Description

Whether you’re an amateur DIY-er or experienced tradesperson, secure your project with accessories in our fixing range offering, nails and screws in a variety of shapes, sizes and threads.

For nails that can withstand rust and corrosion, you can’t go wrong with our galvanised nails.

Skuma Timba has a huge selection of galvanised nails that are ideal for outdoor use and building projects that require strong and sturdy nails and pins. You can choose from different types and sizes of galvanised nails, such as round wire nails, clout nails, drywall nails, insulation slab nails and helical nails.

We also have a variety of brad nails. These nails are great for flooring jobs and second fixings on various projects, from attaching skirting and architrave, to securing panelling or floorboards.

One way to tell galvanised nails from regular nails is by their coating. Galvanised nails have a layer of zinc oxide that protects them from rust and corrosion, while regular nails do not have any coating and are more likely to rust and corrode.

This coating also makes galvanised nails more durable, more expensive, and more rough than regular nails. The roughness of galvanised nails can make them harder to drive into the wood, but also more suitable for various roofing projects, such as fixing shingles, metal roof sheets, slates and tiles.

However, galvanised nails are not compatible with some woods, such as cedar, because the chemicals in these woods can damage the zinc coating. Galvanised nails should also be avoided in areas that are exposed to salty air or with copper flashing, as these can cause corrosion as well.
